Alice Tait is a well-known British illustrator who loves to draw. Alice’s favourite commissions are for children’s books, and her favourite thing to draw is dogs, so working on The Ultimate Kids' Guide to Dogs has been a real career high! As well as her work in children’s publishing as an author-illustrator, Alice’s artwork can be seen across adult publishing, fashion, posh food and even her own brand of gifts, which is the best-selling London gift range in the UK. In between high-profile commissions, and being mother to two very active young children, Alice loves nothing better than to nip out with her sketchbook to take inspiration from the streets around her, and the people (and dogs!) she sees.

Her parents and four brothers were all murdered. As a member of a resistance group, she helped to smuggle Jews out of Poland to Austria, and then on to what would become Israel. Her memoir, Alicia: Memoirs of a Survivor, is an account of her experiences of the Holocaust.

Alison Bashford is Laureate Professor of History at the University of New South Wales. Bashford was previously Vere Harmsworth Professor of Imperial and Naval History at the University of Cambridge. Alison Bechdel is guest editor of Best American Comics, 2011, and has drawn comics for Slate, McSweeney's, Entertainment Weekly, Granta, and The New York Times Book Review. In 2014 she was named as one of the recipients of the MacArthur 'Genius' Award.

Simon McGrath is a nice chap – he donates blood, he recycles, he cares about the world. He just happens to work as an arms dealer – or a 'defence and security equipment system solutions broker' as he prefers to call it. It wasn’t planned, and what he really wants is to pursue is his career in electronic music, but until that takes off he’ll stay where he is. After all, he has to pay his mortgage like everyone else... 
 
In these three series, Simon goes to extreme lengths to prove to everyone just how guilt-ridden he feels about doing the job he does, from considering becoming a whistleblower to deciding to quit when he has to sell uniforms to child soldiers. As he tries to salve his conscience, he decides to do his job really badly (only to find out that he secretly loves it), attempts to gain redundancy (but gets a promotion instead) and wonders whether he should seek forgiveness (but surely he has absolutely nothing to be forgiven for – does he?) 
 
Meanwhile, his personal life is proving equally problematic, as he and his needy girlfriend Anna contemplate having a baby, survive a visit from her parents and try to find reasons why they still love each other...

A Night In (19 September 1974) 
 Godber is moved into Fletch's cell, and confides that he finds it tough each time the door bangs shut. Fletch advises him to think of it as 'a quiet night in': but the trouble is, Godber has 698 more nights to get through. 
 
Heartbreak Hotel (31 October 1975) 
 Godber has an uncharacteristically violent episode after receiving a 'Dear John' letter from his fiancée Denise. Fletcher tries to help him, but Fletch's daughter Ingrid proves more of a consolation. 
 
Disturbing the Peace (7 November 1975) 
 With Mackay away on a course, the prisoners plan to have some fun, but it turns out his replacement, Wainwright, is even worse. His excessive discipline causes a riot, and it's left to Fletcher to sort out the situation. 
 
No Peace For The Wicked (14 November 1975) 
With everyone watching a football match, Fletch attempts to snatch a few precious minutes of peace and quiet, only to suffer constant interruptions, among whom are Mackay and visiting members of the Home Office, who then insist on questioning Fletch about his views on the penal system. 
 
The Harder They Fall (21 November 1975) 
 Godber's been chosen for the boxing team, so naturally everybody wants a bit of a flutter. When rivals Grouty and Billy Moffatt both want to fix the fight different ways, only Fletch looks like coming out the winner. 
 
No Way Out (24 December 1975) 
A planned escape causes all kinds of trouble just before Christmas, and Fletch attempts to spend some valuable time in the infirmary. 
 
The Desperate Hours (24 December 1976) 
Fletcher, Godber, Barrowclough and the governor's secretary are held hostage by a mad prisoner with a homemade gun attempting to escape. 
 
Poetic Justice (25 February 1977) 
Fletch is incensed to discover that he is getting a new cell-mate. To make matters worse, it turns out that the cell-mate is the judge that sentenced him. 
 
Rough Justice (4 March 1977) 
After the judge's watch is stolen, everyone is convinced that Harris is the culprit, and so a kangaroo court is set up in an effort to convict him of the crime. 
 
Pardon Me (11 March 1977) 
Blanco refuses parole after serving a life sentence for a murder he's always claimed he never committed, so Fletch sets up an appeal committee to get him pardoned. 
 
A Test of Character (18 March 1977) 
Fletch is determined to help Godber pass his History O-level, so he has Warren steal the papers, only to discover that Godber doesn't want them. Meanwhile, a debate flares up over a claim of Warren's that, at a certain scale, the nearest star from the Sun would be in Johannesburg.

He lives in his huge but slightly falling down castle (but then it was built by the French so what can one expect) with his daughter Anne (Martha Howe-Douglas) and very teenage son Henry (Steven Kynman). Anne’s best friend Charlotte (Ingrid Oliver) nearly always joins Anne on her constant quest to find fit men in the village. And Anne certainly isn’t interested in Sir William De Warenne ("Knight errant, scourge of the Levant") (Neil Dudgeon) who lives across the way. Unfortunately he can’t take a hint and is besotted with Lady Anne and Sir John thinks it a good match. Ah! what is a Lady to do! Cardinal Duncan (Jonathan Kydd) (a man of the cloth – in particular crushed silk which he loves), has to endure De Warenne’s incessant plans to woo Lady Anne and has little time to peruse sweethearts of his own. Which oddly enough, he doesn’t seem to mind...

His fellow travelling scientist Graham should alleviate this, but the tragi-comic fact is, they are nerdy blokes, so they can only stumble through yet another awkward exchange. Ben experiences all the highs and lows that this beautiful, but lonely place has to offer but fails miserably to communicate this to Graham. So, Ben shares his thoughts with us in the form of an audio 'log'. 
 
Apart from his research studying the Albatross on the Island, Ben attempts to continue normal life with an earnestness and enthusiasm which is ultimately very endearing. We're with him as chats awkwardly with Graham, telephones his mother and as he tries to form a long distance relationship with a woman through Chemistry.com. In fact, we follow Ben as everything occurs to him. We also hear the pings and whirrs of machinery, the Squawks and screeches of the birds and the vast expanse outside. Oh, and ice. Lots of ice.
