Prior to that he held a wide range of leadership positions in the Kingdom's national oil company, Saudi Aramco. He was the first Saudi national to be named President of the company in 1984 and became the first Saudi CEO in 1988. Al-Naimi joined the company, then called Aramco, as an office boy in 1947. A Bedouin, he was born in the deserts of eastern Arabia in 1935.

This story marks the first appearance, here playing space agent Bret Vyon, of Nicholas Courtney who would later create the recurring role of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. Jean Marsh and Adrienne Hill also star as companions Sara Kingdom and Katarina.

A sequence of mysterious events seems to centre around Chameleon Tours, whose package holidays are designed to entice young people to foreign shores. Just how far-flung are the horizons they offer, and why are none of their passengers coming back? Who are the faceless ones, and what hideously deformed creatures are involved in the operations being conducted at the airport medical centre? The Doctor believes that there's a connection between Chameleon Tours and the odd behaviour of key airport personnel - but in seeking to prove his theory, and rescue Ben and Polly, he becomes embroiled in a plot to steal the identities of thousands of young people.

Doctor Who: The Ghosts Of N-Space (TV Soundtrack)

Scotland, 1745. The Doctor, Ben and Polly arrive in Scotland after the Battle of Culloden and meet a band of Highlanders who are fleeing in defeat. Their Laird is injured and the three offer to help tend his injuries. Polly and Kirsty McLaren, the Laird's daughter (played in a guest appearance by Hannah Gordon) go to fetch some water but while they are gone the others are captured by Redcoat troops.   Things become worse when the group is taken again - this time by the crooked Solicitor Grey, who is part of the West Indian slave trade. The prisoners, Ben amongst them, are bundled on board the Annabelle where the wicked Captain Trask issues dire threats of drowning.   Meanwhile the Doctor is on dry land confusing all and sundry in a variety of disguises. However, his bumbling manner hides a sharp brain and eventually he, Polly and Ben are reunited in the TARDIS together with the young piper Jamie McCrimmon, who went on to become one of the most popular companions of the series.

Doctor Who: The Highlanders (TV Soundtrack)

When the Doctor, Polly and Ben visit a human colony that appears to be one big holiday camp, they think they have come across a truly happy place. But a shadowy presence soon makes them realise that the surface contentment is carefully controlled.   The colony's inhabitants have been brainwashed by giant crab-like creatures - the Macra. Insidious propaganda, broadcast by the Controller, forces the humans to mine a gas that is essential for the Macra to survie - but fatal for them. The colony must be saved - but how?   The Doctor and his team are up against it, particularly when Ben falls under the influence of the Macra. Can he be rescued from their evil clutches? Can the gas pumping be destroyed, getting rid of the Macra for good?   The soundtrack to this popular adventure, which was first broadcast in 1967, has been digitally remastered to recreate a very popular story from the Troughton era.

Doctor Who: The Macra Terror (TV Soundtrack)

The TARDIS materialises in Paris in 1572, a time of great danger and religious strife. Whilst the Doctor pays a visit to famous apothecary Charles Preslin, Steven is befriended by a group of Protestants who come from the household of Admiral de Coligny.   Meanwhile, the Catholic Queen Mother, Catherine de Medici, aided by the hated dignitary the Abbot of Amboise, is hatching a plot to kill all French Protestants - starting with de Coligney. Worryingly for Steven, the Abbot bears an uncanny resemblance to the Doctor. And when the plot fails and the Abbot is condemned to death, he is even more alarmed. Was that the Doctor being killed? Or does the Abbot just look like him?   The four episodes of this 1966 story no longer exist in the BBC television archives. This audio exclusive has taken the soundtrack and, with linking narration by Peter Purves, the whole thrilling adventure is brought back to life.

Doctor Who: The Massacre

‘You have blasphemed in the temple of Aggedor... prepare the pit!’ It is many years since the TARDIS last settled on the planet Peladon, and the Doctor is surprised to find a less than warm welcome when he takes Sarah Jane Smith for a visit. The spectre of the royal beast, Aggedor, is once more being blamed for sudden deaths, fuelling great unrest among the planet’s trisilicate miners. The Doctor and Sarah meet an old friend, in the shape of Alpha Centauri, and are introduced to Queen Thalira, daughter of the old King Peladon. They soon discover that the dark forces at work are far more real than Aggedor’s ghost. There is a plot afoot, and behind it lie some more familiar figures: the Ice Warriors! With the Doctor’s old foes now allied with a galactic power bloc, the odds seem stacked against Peladon and the Federation. As tension mounts and the death toll increases, only the courage and ingenuity of the Doctor, Sarah and their friends can save the day. Elisabeth Sladen, who plays Sarah Jane in the story, provides linking narration and, in a short bonus feature, recalls the making of the original production.

Taken to the Greek camp by Achilles, the Doctor is introduced to Agamemnon and Odysseus and forced to admit his less than godlike status. He is then given just two days to come up with a strategy for defeating the Trojans...   Meanwhile, Steven and Vicki have been taken prisoner by the other side. The Trojans are convinced that Vicki is a spy - and to prove her loyalty she must concoct a plan to defeat the Greeks! Like the Doctor, she has just two days to do it.   Luckily for the Doctor, a certain someone has already devised a scheme for beating the Trojans. Even if the wooden horse was invented for a piece of fiction written in the eighth century, it still works...   As the opposing forces come face to face in a climatic battle, there are dangers aplenty for both Steven and Vicki. By the time the TARDIS moves away again, it will have both lost and gained a crew member.

The TARDIS’s arrival on the swamp planet of Vulcan brings its own problems; the Doctor is mistaken for an official come to solve the Earth colony’s in-fighting, and soon he and his companions are embroiled in political wranglings. However, a far more serious threat lurks within the colony. The scientist Lesterson has discovered a crashed space capsule, within it a group of inert metallic creatures which the Doctor identifies as Daleks. Refusing to heed the Doctor’s warnings, Lesterson supplies power to the Daleks and revives them.   The awakened Daleks claim to be faithful servants of humanity – but could such a thing ever be possible? By covert means they seek an increasing level of energy, but for what?   By the time the Doctor and his friends discover the Daleks’ true plan for the colony, it looks as if it might already be too late to stop them...   Anneke Wills, who plays Polly in the story, narrates this debut story for the second Doctor, Patrick Troughton, first broadcast in 1966 and long since missing from the television archives.

The rugged Cornwall of days gone by is the scene for first Doctor William Hartnell’s 1966 foray into the murky world of pirates and hidden treasure.   The TARDIS lands on the seventeenth century Cornish coast, and its crew stumble upon a plot by the local Squire to receive and offload contraband goods. The Doctor meets the churchwarden, whose last words to him concern the whereabouts of hidden treasure. When pirate captain Samuel Pike learns of this, he kidnaps the Doctor and demands to be given the cryptic clue.   With the treasure uncovered and the militia called in by the local Revenue officer, a bloody fight ensues –  can the Doctor, Ben and Polly escape with their lives?   This full-bodied, romantic yarn is narrated by Anneke Wills, who played companion Polly. It also features Michael Craze as Ben and Michael Godfrey as Pike.

So begins their quest to be reunited with the TARDIS, whilst treading perilously across the paths of the Interstella Space Corps and a gang of murderous bandits.   The eccentric prospector Milo Clancey gives the travellers passage in his ageing spaceship, but the old man is himself the focus of Space Corps investigations. Could he possibly be behind the destruction and salvage of so many beacons in the sector? What is the position of Madeleine Issigri, who runs her father’s mining corporation on the planet Ta – and how might a locked room provide the answer to this mystery?   Half the galaxy is spanned in a game of cat and mouse between the law enforcers – led by no-nonsense General Hermack and his V-Ship crew – and the pirates Caven and Dervish, who will apparently stop at nothing to continue their lucrative racket.   This six-part adventure, brimming with visions of space travel in the 21st century, offers space opera on a grand scale and was the penultimate story of the second Doctor’s TV era.

But the Doctor soon realises that Zaroff's plan is insanely dangerous: the professor's lunatic dreams of ultimate power could lead to the destruction of the entire planet. Can the Doctor and company stop him? Anneke Wills, who also plays Polly, narrates this classic adventure - only two episodes of which survive in the television archives. In a specially recorded bonus interview, she recalls her experiences of making The Underwater Menace in 1967.
