Aaron Young was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and read Politics and Communications at The University of Liverpool. He is a BAFTA-nominated director, producer and executive producer with over 20 years of experience across projects for the BBC, PBS, Channel 4, Channel 5, UKTV, UK Film Council and Arts Council England. A long-time collaborator of acclaimed historian, James Holland, he is the producer and director of the BAFTA-shortlisted BBC titles ‘Battle of Britain: The Real Story’ and, ‘Dam Busters: The Race to Smash the German Dams’, as well as ‘The Battle for Malta’, ‘Normandy ’44: The Battle Beyond D-Day’, the RTS-nominated ‘Imphal &amp; Kohima: Britain’s Greatest Battle.’, and the 3-part series, 'Normandy '44: D-Day and the Battle for France. Terry Pratchett In His Own Words

George Orwell's classic account of his experiences during the Spanish Civil War, dramatised for radio by Mike Walker. Produced by Kate McAll. 
 
In 1936 Eric and Eileen Blair were making ends meet by running a small village shop in Wallington and growing vegetables. Eric had recently sent 'The Road to Wigan Pier' to Victor Gollancz, hoping it would be published. But then news came from Spain that Franco's Nationalists had risen up against the elected Republican government. In this autobiographical account, Eric decides to go to Spain - not just to record the struggle but to fight the Fascists. He joined a badly organised and ill equipped militia, armed with dud bombs and rusty guns. It was a decision that would nearly cost him his life, and produce one of the most vivid accounts of the Spanish Civil War.

The story is set circa 1790 in the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town (based on Tarrytown, New York), in a secluded glen called Sleepy Hollow. It tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a lean, lanky, and extremely superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut, who competes with Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt, the town rowdy, for the hand of 18-year-old Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer, Baltus Van Tassel. As Crane leaves a party he attended at the Van Tassel home on an autumn night, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman, who is supposedly the ghost of a Hessian trooper who had his head shot off by a stray cannonball during "some nameless battle" of the American Revolutionary War, and who "rides forth to the scene of battle in nightly quest of his head".

Juliet Stevenson and Philip Jackson star in Peter Souter's comedy about love, sex and other foolhardy mistakes made by the modern 50pluser. Peter Souter is multi-award winning writer. His Radio 4 Afternoon Play, Goldfish girl, received both a Sony and a Tinniswood award for Best Drama. He also wrote THAT'S Mine, This is Yours (picked as Play of the Week podcast), Puddle, and Stream River Sea. His ITV comedy series Married, Single, Other was internationally broadcast and received much media praise. He also wrote Deep &amp; Crisp &amp; Even a short film for Sky One starring Timothy Spall and Natascha McElhone. Peter has a number of other film and TV projects in development.

She drives South to discover a whole lot more about the past of the man she married. Is Marie's new husband George a bigamist? The woman at his hospital bedside says she is married to him too. On Christmas Day, Marie is unexpectedly pregnant, Laura still insists that she is married to her husband George, and there's another woman sitting at his bedside. Insidious propaganda, broadcast by the Controller, forces the humans to mine a gas that is essential for the Macra to survie - but fatal for them.   The colony must be saved - but how? The Doctor and his team are up against it, particularly when Ben falls under the influence of the Macra. Can he be rescued from their evil clutches? Can the gas pumping be destroyed, getting rid of the Macra for good?   The soundtrack to this popular adventure, which was first broadcast in 1967, has been digitally remastered to recreate a very popular story from the Troughton era.

Fifteen year old Rose hears voices. Mostly she gets along with them ok, but when her real Dad turns up out of the blue to take her away for the weekend, things get completely out of control. This drama has sprung out of a project that listened to people with mental health issues, and in this case people who hear voices. The project was run by Company Paradiso, a charity that enables groups of people who encounter some form of disadvantage to tell their stories. If you would like more information about hearing voices, there is support information and peer groups in many areas, organised through the Hearing Voices Network.

Adrian Penketh's adaptation of Maupassant's first novel. Jeanne de Lamare - a sheltered and naive country aristocrat - leaves her convent education filled with thoughts of love and romance. Lamare marries a smallminded local landowner, and begins to discover how rotten and treacherous adult life is all around her. Jeanne believes that conceiving a second child will heal the ache in her heart caused by a loveless marriage in a rotten world.
