Bang on the Door was founded by two designers, Karen Duncan & Samantha Stringle, in 1988, in a cold flat above a butcher’s shop in North London. The brand started selling t-shirts on a stall at Camden Market. The strong, simple & humorous images of animals with black outlines & bold, flat colours proved very popular with people of all ages & formed the distinctive style of Bang on the Door. The design range developed in the same style to include people characters such as the iconic Groovy Chick and her many friends, with over a thousand characters to date. Most recent partnerships include ASOS, Daisy Street, Primark and Moonpig.
